Applying for a Student Visa to Study in Canada

Visa Requirements: In Canada, Student Authorizations (student visas) are not necessary for language courses under six months. However, for programs lasting six months or more, you are required to obtain Student Authorization. This should be done at the nearest Canadian Embassy/Consulate or online BEFORE your arrival in Canada.

Letter of Acceptance: A crucial document for your Student Authorization is the Letter of Acceptance from Canada College. We will issue this letter once we have received your completed application form, necessary documents, and the application fee. This letter must be presented when applying for your Student Authorization at the visa office. Applicants enrolling in programs of 24 weeks or longer may need to undergo medical examinations, which can take two to three months to process by the Canadian government before a Student Authorization is approved.

Preparation Steps: Before applying for your Student Authorization or visitor visa, ensure you have: a valid passport; a Letter of Acceptance from Canada College; evidence of sufficient funds for your entire stay in Canada; a letter from your sponsoring organization (if applicable); and medical clearance (if required).

CAQ Form for Quebec: As your study destination is Quebec, you must also apply for a CAQ (Québec Acceptance Certificate). The application form is available here: Immigration Quebec.

Proof of Financial Support: You need to demonstrate your financial capability for the duration of your stay in Quebec before a Student Authorization can be issued. This can be done through a bank statement, a letter from a financial institution officer, or a written pledge of financial support from a parent or guardian. These documents should convince immigration officials of your ability to cover all expenses in Canada, including tuition, housing, transportation, medical insurance, and personal needs.

Application Process: Once you have gathered all required documents, you can apply for your Student Authorization at the nearest Canadian Embassy, Consulate, or High Commission. Online applications are also available.
